Summary

The 3 peaks trip was definitely the hardest challenge I have ever set myself. Never before have I had so many moments of self-doubt whilst doing anything. It has helped push the boundaries and made me realize I'm capable of achieving. I have learnt about the importance of consuming enough calories whilst exercising and staying positive/carrying on when the going gets really tough. Another reason for doing the challenge was to try and raise £500 for The Raising Hope Foundation (a charity working in Ghana helping orphaned/underprivileged children). I'd been to Ghana a few years earlier and spent a week working at the charity's annual Summer School. The £500 target was the estimated amount needed to finish furnishing the Orphanage after the recently-completed construction work, so that it was ready to open and able to start taking in children. Thanks to many generous donations from friends and family I managed to exceed my fundraising target :) The statistics for the challenge are as follows: - 457 miles cycled - 26.5 miles of walking/climbing/running up and down mountains - £510 raised for The Raising Hope Foundation - £90 spent on food/coke/bottled water (mostly at petrol stations) - 40,000 calories burned - 11.5 hours overall sleep - not showering at all - one impromptu ferry - one wild poo Finally I'd like to thank the helpful staff at the Fort William Tourist Information Centre, the people in the pub in Mold, the helpful coach driver in Caernarfon and everyone who donated or who offered words of encouragement at any time.
